Scheduled Tours

Public Tours (10 or less people with no special needs)

Groups of 10 or less do NOT require a reservation. Tours last one hour, are free of charge, and include a visit to the dome.  Tours begin on the hour at the Visitor Services Information Desk (first floor, north side of the building) 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Capitol Group Tours
Attic/Dome Tour

Mr. Brown's Attic is an exhibit area located between the third floor and the dome. It is devoted to Colorado's early history, capitol construction, legislative process, and has a children's interactive space. The dome walk is a 99-step climb to the observation area where there is a 360 degree view of downtown Denver and the Rocky Mountains. A closed-captioned video tour (near third floor elevators) is available for visitors who are unable or do not wish to make the climb.

Historical Tour

This is a guided walk through the Capitol.  Information regarding early Capitol construction, stained glass artwork, Women's Gold Tapestry, Presidential portraits, Colorado’s lawmaking process, and much more is offered.  Tours are available year round.

Legislative Tour

This legislative orientation for students may include a visit to the House and Senate Galleries and a possible meeting with a lawmaker.  Tours are available January - May.

Student and Adult group tours are very popular and space is limited.  Tours will fill.  Reservations for group tours can be made one calendar year in advance.  All group tours require an advance reservation.

Interim tours available:

Historical, Attic/Dome, and Lunch rotations (120 minutes in duration) available mid-May to mid-January.

Legislative Session Tours:

Historical, Legislative, Attic/Dome, and Lunch rotations (150 minutes in duration) available mid-January to mid-May.
