Senator Coram and Senator Smallwood, co-prime sponsors, presented House Bill 17-1236 to the committee. This bill requires the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF), in consultation with the Hospital Provider Fee Oversight and Advisory Board, to prepare an annual report detailing the cost of uncompensated care provided by general hospitals in Colorado. The bill specifies the information that hospitals are required to submit to HCPF and the cost categories that must be included in the hospital expenditure report. HCPF is required to submit the hospital expenditure report to the Health and Human Services Committees and the Joint Budget Committee of the General Assembly, the Governor, and the Medical Services Board by January 15 of each year beginning in 2018.
